Shopping

Yesterday a visit to Seminyak, Bali. It was on our son's wishlist to go there (I love the fact that they get to the age they actually like shopping). It's unbelievable how things can change in such short time. It's been only two years ago since our last visit and although it always was the place to be for design it's been growing and developping with many many more excellent shops.

By nature we went to our known places first, like Jellyfish , it's a kids clothing shop with out of the ordinairy designs where our girl bought her first dress 5 years ago, she has quite a collection now of Jellyfish dresses. Here showing her latetst.

Next visit was the Corner Store (unfortunately no website), I always buy the bags made of ricebags made by Madcow, every year they have different designs.

Stop for a lunch at Made's Warung, I think the best place for a quite Indo atmosphere lunch or diner or simply a drink, serving Indo, Japanese and Western food. It's a place with a long history. They even made the place bigger now, but still maintained the old intimate style.

 Made's Warung now

I pick out two places that caught my attention and are new to me. First one is
La Bijouterie of Cooperative de creation. I like the way they make simple jewellery out of basic materials using letters and natural materials. Unfortunately on the website you can only see a tiny bit of their huge divers collection.

The last one is GV Amazing Crafts, they design wonderful furniture, I'm in love with their desk, couch and old style travel cabinet.

Look at

Look at these lovely hand made sweaters, dresses & cardigans for the little ones, so nice.

Not that I have little children that can actually wear them or made any progress on my knitting capacities since October, but still. Sold by Fatsheep. A shop in Amsterdam selling these organic knitwear of 100% eco Merino wool from NZ & Alpaca wool from Boliva. Nice blog as well, that's how we found them.

you know the feeling?

Selling something you hate to see go. I have that feeling with this fancy golden baby bib with soft fleece inside, not that my 10 or 7 year old fit in, but still. Wish I had made one when my daughter was that small.

Have to urge myself not to hold on to it till one of the kids might have children of their own if ever. Imagining that they only get boys and Granny doesn't care, she insist they wear this precious golden bib at her dinner table, poor lads, no no, lets wrap it up.

Bag ladies

Honestly, I can't say I've met a woman who isn't the proud owner of a (huge) collection of bags.

And this is a shame, we know, but we need them! for all kind of occasions: big bag for every day of course (you won't believe the things we have to carry around), a purse for our Iphone (can be found in the every day big bag), a hip bag to go to a festival, park or chill out party. The clutch for nights out, or can be used as well as a make up bag (must fit in the daily bag). The normal sized bag for shopping events & the special occasion bag when dressed fabulously chique.

Now, there are women who simply love their bags and find such joy in finding a new one which fits their outfit perfectly. I know some of these women, and one in particular always comes to my mind when thinking of bags. So Sandra, this one is for you.

All these lovely bags were found via Cargoh

Knit knit knit

We can sew, we can design, we can cook, we can be lovely creatures sometimes, BUT we can't knit. Now as winter is coming up and I came upon an article about Wool and the Gang I started wondering:

Almost everyday I'm wearing this scarf, made by one of my aunts Ria, not for me, but about 30 years ago for my mom. I remember her wearing it at a summer evening garden party.

Do I want to be able to make these wonderful creations myself, Yes! I do, but do I have the time to actually learn it, hmmmm, No! So maybe next summer spend my time knitting in Bali?

Something like this extremely large scarf, that must be possible. A bit less large otherwise I'll be falling flat on my face every time I would be wearing it, or when wrapped many times around my neck you would see a huge pile of wool wandering around the streets.

Anyway, have a look at the shop of Wool and the Gang 'cause they make you want to knit.

Need restyling? recycle your wardrobe

Well ladies, we think this is a wonderful idea. We love to shop & love to create and most of the pieces in our wardrobe we actually liked when we bought them. But as we all know, we need change & new & different and, and...

So why shouldn't we make a whole new dress out of that nice skirt and that other top together, or maybe put the fabric of the skirt as a top and the top as skirt. So many possibilities.

Well at recycle your wardrobe you can do this, under the guidance of two experienced fashion designers. Such fun, and you'll know for sure, that there is no one wearing the same dress as you are. I want to create a whole new evening gown, got so many and as all of the women often wearing those know, you can only wear the same twice a year.

Remember?

Do you remember, the old fashioned sleeping gowns? Can you imagine Christmas morning in an ugly Pokomon pajama, horrifying. These on the other hand will give you one in style, just like it should be. And not only then, it's an everyday pleasure to see the kids walking around in them in the morning.

The Tiduras as they are called (from the Indonesian word Tidur = sleeping), are made in Bali, exclusively for Liefgoed on limited scale. All come with a small bag of the same material. Available in all sizes, so your toddler can wear one, but you & husbands well. Liefgoed

Petticoat

This afternoon at 5 the World Premiere of Petticoat at the Royal Theatre Carré in Amsterdam. A musical written by André Breedland & Maurice Wijnen with music of Henny Vrienten. I'm quite expectantly about going. Why?

First of all, it is set against the 1950's, it's social context & fashion. An era which I, fashion wise, think is the most stylish & elegant one of all times. Looking at the series 'Mad Men', or even better the movie 'A Single Man' is a cheer joy, just for the costumes only. So knowing only THE best have worked on Petticoat, Cocky van Huijkelom for costumes and Sjoerd Didden for wigs & make-up, makes me eager to go.

Secondly, Paul Eenens, regardless that I love the man for who he is, I adore his work as a director. Every single piece of his hand was a thrilling one. And last but not least, Chantal Janzen, she's not only a pleasure to look at she also has a great sense of humor.

So for me, all the right ingredients are there, and of course there are so many more. But these three alone make me want to go! Want to know more about tonight?, tune in tomorrow.

The people from Bali making the Tidura's

New release of the old fashioned night gown

Last fall, Liefgoed released the new sleeping & relax shirt with a nostalgic look, called the Tidura. The name comes from the Indonesian word 'tidur' which means 'sleeping'. The Tidura's are made on a small scale exclusively for Liefgoed by two young tailors at Bali, Indonesia.
Even the Dutch trendwatcher Adjiedj Bakas gave an infotorial in is his last book 'The future of love' about the return of the nightshirt.
