Who's version?
We love Raghava KK's idea for educating children multiple perspectives (and it's not only children who need it!) . It's almost a good reason for buying an Ipad. Almost...

Mark the date!
Ever heard of Handmade Heaven, it's a shop, workplace, atelier where all creatives, young or old can gather, either making stuff, getting inspired or buy lots of things to create at your own place.
I found the place only last week and I love it (my daughter even more). So good thing is they have on the 28th of May the 'Kinder Doe Parade'! and mothers take notice: it's not only for the girlies, they have the 'Toolkid Timmer Tafel' for the boys (starting from the age of 4). And while the kids are doing their stuff you can relax en enjoy your picnic.

Get together
Liefgoed picks out her own selling points so you won't find our cards on every corner of the street. It was therefore quite amazing to find out that two of our hand picked retailers Het Grote Avontuur in Amsterdam and Huis van Alijn in Gent (Belgium), have a get together for a couple of months.
Till August 2011 Het Grote Avontuur will have the POP UP photo exposition 'proud of my car' of the museum Huis van Alijn at her shop & nice products from the museum for sale as well. Definitely worth a visit!

Zorro, my kinda guy
As some of you might know I'm privileged to see quite a few musicals, today we have the premiere of Zorro. I've seen it a few years ago in Paris and it’s the most passionate play I've ever seen.
All the elements are right, we've got this childhood hero, not using a gun but a sword, which makes the fighting scenes a lot more pleasant to watch.
Riding a horse, not a BMW.
True romance, and I'm not the kind of girl who is in to that, but Zorro coming back home remembering who it is he really loves, proves my theory that men shouldn't marry before 40 (simply because they have to do so much other stuff before that).
And last but not least extremely passionate dancing on the music of the Gipsy Kings.
So I'm really looking forward to experience it once more this afternoon.

Only two days
It was only two days in Hamburg, Germany, but so much can happen in 48 hours. We were received at the hotel by this enormous but friendly smiling Steiff bear. The hotel was full of Christmas decoration and the snow outside was the finishing touch. Looking so much better than the ordinary snow spray, really Astrid, don't know how you pulled that together :).
The first evening we were invited for the Opening Night of Sister Act. A bright & swinging musical. Honestly, when you're feeling depressed, go there, it's an absolute party! Isn't this a wonderful picture of Whoopi (co-producer) & the leading lady of the show? For more: Sister Act
I remember going to the World premiere of Sister Act in London in June 2009, a similar wonderful evening, different temperature though! But through my eyes, not being an expert on this, I would say the show even improved since then. World premiere June 2009 London
We all know, and in case you didn't, now you do, the Germans are big fans of Christmas. They decorate everything, in style I must say & have Christmas markets with loads of people actually standing outside chatting & having fun. Never got the part of having fun in the cold, but that's me. It must be said Hamburg looked like a fairytale, it was a joy and extremely difficult NOT to spend huge amounts of money.
One more thing. At the superb Christmas dinner I learned that one of the guests, which I know for almost 10 years now, opened a shop full of delicacies. Mostly German, based on grandmothers recipes. You can visit it online, but also in Hamburg. So, if you're still looking for that special Christmas present for mom or dad, hurry! My Supper

How was it?
First of all, it is an absolute great show!
Now on the most important reasons why I was eager to see it, I can be extremely short:
Costumes: As one of the guests remarked 'I want everything in size 38 please!'. Says it all
Cast & Director: for the first time in 10 years of seeing lots of musical premieres, I actually needed a handkerchief. Thank you dear husband for carrying one.

Petticoat
This afternoon at 5 the World Premiere of Petticoat at the Royal Theatre Carré in Amsterdam. A musical written by André Breedland & Maurice Wijnen with music of Henny Vrienten. I'm quite expectantly about going. Why?
First of all, it is set against the 1950's, it's social context & fashion. An era which I, fashion wise, think is the most stylish & elegant one of all times. Looking at the series 'Mad Men', or even better the movie 'A Single Man' is a cheer joy, just for the costumes only. So knowing only THE best have worked on Petticoat, Cocky van Huijkelom for costumes and Sjoerd Didden for wigs & make-up, makes me eager to go.
Secondly, Paul Eenens, regardless that I love the man for who he is, I adore his work as a director. Every single piece of his hand was a thrilling one. And last but not least, Chantal Janzen, she's not only a pleasure to look at she also has a great sense of humor.
So for me, all the right ingredients are there, and of course there are so many more. But these three alone make me want to go! Want to know more about tonight?, tune in tomorrow.
